Makerspace

Supplies and Materials

Use of Makerspace Supplies and Materials:

The Makerspace provides learning opportunities to acquire new skills using existing supplies.  The Makerspace maintains a supply of assorted craft paper, glue, glue sticks, scissors, scrap fabric, and assorted craft items for use.  The types of items & materials and their availability is always in flux as many supplies are donated by members of the community.

If you have need for specific materials or supplies for a particular project, it is strongly suggested that you purchase them yourself as we cannot guarantee current inventory of many items.

If you are planning a large scale project such as decal making, button making, or 3D printing for an event, a club or a class, you should plan in advance and purchase the materials to use in the Makerspace.  A list of sources for ordering materials for these activities is provided below.  If you do not find the information you are looking for, please email  makerspace@pugetsound.edu. We can work with you to help you identify the materials and resources that you require.

Silhouette Cutter

Silhouette Cutter:

  • Cutting mat
  • Auto-blade
  • Adhesive vinyl.  The Makerspace suggests Oracal 651 vinyl in 12" x 12" sheets.  This is a permanent vinyl that can withstand hand-washing when placed on items such as mugs and water bottles.
  • Other materials for cutting:  There are a variety of other materials that can be cut using the Silhouette cutter, such as iron-on vinyl and adhesive vinyls with different finishes (glitter, shimmer, iridescent, etc.).  These items can be found in craft stores and online.  Please contact makerspace@pugetsound.edu if you have questions about using these items on the Silhouette cutter.

Laser Cutter

When purchasing items for use in the laser cutter, please refer to the Laser Cutter information page to check the list of materials, dimensions of materials, etc. that can be used in the laser cutter.  The use of any material in the laser cutter is subject to staff approval.
