Printing Presses

Reliance Proof Press

The Reliance Press from Schneidewend and Co. was acquired by the library in 2017.  It was part of a collection of printing and press materials that were originally part of the Thornily Collection of the West Coast Paper Company.

Book Beetle

Based on the early wooden hand press popular in the 18th century, the Book Beetle is a portable press ideal for teaching the basics on the parts and operation of a press.

Provisional Press

The Provisional Press was created to provide portable presses for learning and becoming familiar with printing presses and printmaking.

Platen Press

This table top platen press was acquired by Collins Library in 2009.
Table top platen presses were designed to be relatively portable, simple to operate and easy to maintain.
