The Book Arts Studio is a dedicated space for learning about printing, book and zine design. It is an extension of the Makerspace and a creative space to learn and experiment.. We welcome students to visit the Studio and learn about the books arts.
The Studio is also available to faculty for curricular support, collaboration, and co-teaching. We are happy to tailor instruction sessions around projects of varying length: from one session to the entire term.
The Book Arts Studio was co-founded and is directed by Jane Carlin, Library Director, and Jada Pelger, Makerspace Manager and is supported in part by the Puget Sound Book Artists, a non profit organization dedicated to the book arts.
We offer work space for hands-on study and making of unusual, experimental, and innovative books and zines. We support classroom instruction and host visits from a variety of classes and student groups. We run regular workshops, and public programs like lectures and symposia and foster relationships with community artists and organizations.
We also have a variety of resources on basic book design and book structures along with a small library of books and magazines that showcase book projects and will inspire your creative side.
