This site gives underrepresented composers a platform to have their music heard. Composers that submit works to … And We Were Heard are matched with top-notch wind bands and engage in collaborative recording sessions. The resulting audio tracks are hosted on our site along with innovative ideas of how to support diverse voices in music.

African Diaspora Music Porject
A compilation of original works by composers in the African Diaspora. All research associated with this project is owned and presented by Dr. Louise Toppin and Videmus.
Aria Access Project (AAP)
The AAP aims to increase awareness of and access to arias by diverse, contemporary American composers and librettists, whose scores remain largely unpublished. This online hub includes arias from works that have recently received their premieres, as well as from operas for which the premieres are forthcoming. At launch, the AAP includes 20 different arias, all available for free download as PDFs for educational and audition purposes. Additional arias will be added to the AAP hub on a regular basis.
Hathi Trust Women Composers Collection
The Hathi Trust Women Composers Collection consists of digitized sheet music for approximately 3,000 musical works by more than 700 women composers. Most date from the 19th- and early 20th-centuries, with a few pieces from the 18th century.

Extensive database for music by women, non-binary, LGBTQIA2s, African, American Indian/Alaska Native, Black, Latinx/Latin American, East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, West Asian/North African composers.

Digital Scores and Libretti
The scores and libretti in this Virtual Collection include first and early editions and manuscript copies of music from the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries by J.S. Bach and Bach family members, Mozart, Schubert and other composers, as well as multiple versions of nineteenth century opera scores, seminal works of musical modernism, and music of the Second Viennese School.

Types of Scores

The library has scores in a variety of formats:

Full Score - complete music with each part on a separate staff
Miniature Score - A photographic reduction of a full score
Score and Parts - a scores with all the parts including individual parts for the performers
Vocal Score - Seperate lines for vocal soloists and choral parts, with a reduction of instrumental lines playable at the piano

There are also critical (scholarly) editions of scores and fascimilies.
