Collins Library's Top Five Tips for Success

Welcome to Collins Library at the University of Puget Sound!

Over the course of your college career, you'll frequently make use of the library's resources and services.  We know that new students receive a lot of information at the beginning of the academic year, so we've decided to present you with just a handful of Collins Library tips to get you started.

Collins Library's Top Five Tips for Success

  1. Dive in to subject-specific research with our Research & Course Guides! Our goal at the library is to make your life a little easier, and we've created research guides that cover every subject taught at Puget Sound, as well as many customized course guides, to give you a place to start your research.
  2. Collins Memorial Library offers digital and print resources to meet your every academic need! Digital resources can be accessed 24/7, both on and off-campus (just log-in with your Puget Sound credentials). Looking for print resources? Your Logger card is your library card, and all items must be checked out at the Circulation desk near the front door on your way out. Books can be borrowed for the full semester, and we don't charge late fees! You can learn more about borrowing other materials on our Student Privileges page.
  3. Schedule a research consultation with your liaison librarian! There are multiple liaison librarians who are here to help you succeed, and you can easily schedule an online appointment to get 1:1 personalized assistance! Learn more about how to get research help on our Get Research Help page.
  4. Looking for a quiet corner, or a group study space? Check out our collaboration space on the main floor; relax in the Reading Room; tuck yourself away in an individual study room on the mezzanine; or find a study carrel in your favorite section of the stacks. Pro Tip: head up to "The Heights" on the 4th floor to get away from it all in our silent study space. You can view all of our spaces on the Library Maps page.
  5. An academic library is so much more than a collection of books! Explore the Archives & Special Collections on the 2nd floor, create something in the Makerspace in the basement, or attend one of our collaborative events, like our monthly Music in the Library concerts.
