Finding Physics Articles

Check out the publications listed below to find an article for you to use for your "Physics in the News" assignment.  Note that some publications may have a limit on how much content may be accessed for free...get in touch with your librarian if you have questions about that.

Considerations to remember: you're looking for articles on a particular topic, so use that topic to help you determine your search terms. You may find it helpful to do some exploratory searching to find more information on your topic to help you figure out what keywords to use to search for your topic so that you can find terms for key names, tools, individuals, etc.

  • The New York Times Science Section
    • Note- To avoid running into article limits, UPS users must register and log in to NYTimes.com. Once you’ve registered for an account, which you do from within the campus network (i.e. on-campus), you may “log in” to that account from anywhere, anytime.  To register go to: http://accessnyt.com; Click "Create Account" and complete the registration fields (it is recommended that you use your @pugetsound.edu email address).
  • Newsweek Tech & Science

Below are links to specific publication accessible through a Collins Library subscription, so the interface looks more 'database-esque' than public facing. You'll typically need to look for a 'search within this publication' link to make sure that you're searching for content only within that particular publication. Fortunately, most have useful features to allow you to filter by date!
