Archives & Special Collections

The Archivist and Special Collections Librarian will carefully consider any offer of material relating to the history of the institution or any item that may enrich our collection of private papers, rare books, and artists' books.

University Departments

The Archives & Special Collections is responsible for maintaining the historical record of the University of Puget Sound. There is currently no comprehensive campus-wide program for collecting these records and little has been added to the A&SC for the past several decades, due to the increase in electronic records. Generally, only a fraction of the materials a department produces are of historical value, but it is important that they are identified and preserved.

University administrative and academic departments wishing to transfer materials to the Archives & Special Collections should contact us. We will respond to your request via email and may schedule a time to visit your department and assess your records before transfer.

Alumni Archives Project

What was it like when you were a student at Puget Sound? The student experience is one of the most important aspects of Puget Sound's history and we don't know nearly enough about it. Students have played a major role in the governance, trajectory, and culture of Puget Sound, and we need your help in improving our documentation of student life. We are interested in collecting material that reflects your experiences at Puget Sound and gives voice to the student body.

We are interested in collecting programs and flyers from campus events, records of student organizations (meeting minutes, correspondence, newsletters, annual reports, etc.), diaries, journals, or correspondence created during your time as a Puget Sound student, photographs of you and your classmates, and other items that uniquely document your Puget Sound experience. At this time, we have sufficient quantities of the Tamanawas yearbook and The Trail, our student newspaper, so we are not collecting those items.

If you are interested in donating materials please contact us at archives@pugetsound.edu
