Liaison Librarian Program

The academic department liaison program is at the core of the Collins Library's services for faculty.  The program serves as the main channel of communication between the public service librarians and the teaching faculty. Each department has a designated librarian who serves as a contact for information about library programs, resources, and services. We encourage faculty to contact their liaison librarian as a first step to request library services, including library instruction, or whenever questions or concerns arise.

Liaison Librarian Assignments, 2023-2024.

Liaison Program Goals

  • To answer questions, resolve problems, interpret library policy, and provide information about library resources and services; or to make referrals to other library staff as appropriate.
  • To collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy into students' learning both within and throughout the curriculum.
  • To teach course-integrated sessions or workshops to students to help them develop their research skills.
  • To consult with faculty on developing and maintaining high quality collections in their disciplinary areas.
  • To provide research consultations for faculty and for students.

Questions about the liaison program in general may be directed to Peggy Burge, Associate Director for Public Services.
