Search Primo for relevant primary source materials that are available in Collins Library or that you can request from other SUMMIT libraries.

Use one or a combination of these search tips when searching for primary source materials:

• Identify and use Library of Congress Subject Headings
   
  • Alchemy -- early works to 1800
     
• Sort your results by date of publication or limit your results to a particular date range.
   
  • Search for "marine biology" and limit publication dates to 1830-1870
     
• Run a subject search, then sort by date of publication (oldest to newest)
  • Chemistry -- textbooks (then sorted by date of publication)

Collins Library has preserved selected magazines and journals in print format.  These can be found by searching Primo, and/or by asking a librarian for ideas.  Two examples are:

American Forestry, later titled American Forests and Forestry, then retitled American Forests (from 1931)
