Call Numbers to Browse

If you're interested in a broad topic in Business & Leadership, or would like to browse for inspiration, try one of these Library of Congress call letters:

  • HD: Industries. Land use. Labor
  • HF: Commerce
  • HG: Finance

Locations of books

  • New books are located in the Library lobby and are in call number order.
  • Print Reference books are on the first floor across from the Learning Commons area.
  • Book stacks: Consult the library map; look for location posters; or ask any staff member for help!

Identifying Academic Books

What are some indicators that a book may be scholarly?

  • Publisher is a university press or scholarly publisher (see this list on Wikipedia)
  • Author(s) and editor(s) are scholars (affiliated with university or research institution) 
  • Scholarly apparatus is present (footnotes, citations, etc.)
  • Technical language geared towards scholars/researchers

Some indicators can be found in a book's catalog record including publisher and notes of bibliographical references. See the sections highlighted in orange below:
