This guide explains HathiTrust, its uses and benefits.

Searching HathiTrust

Ways to search HathiTrust:

For more information on the different search types, visit HathiTrust's Search Tips page.

Viewing Documents

Limited View Results:

Limited (search only) volumes are restricted and not available for viewing. These items are probably in-copyright and only available full-text to print-disabled patrons. You can use the "Search inside the text" option to find the frequency and page number of specific words and phrases, which may help you determine if the work is worth finding elsewhere.

Full View Results:

You can view, download, search, and add Full view results to a collection. Most items will have images of scanned pages and a plain text version.

Downloading Documents and Saving Documents to Collections

You can download your document in a number of formats including PDF. In addition to downloading the entire document, you can choose to download select pages.

Within HathiTrust, you can create collections and save your documents to those folders.
